Diabetes Management
Diabetes is a condition characterized by high levels of glucose, or sugar, in the blood. This occurs when the body either does not produce enough insulin or cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is the hormone responsible for moving glucose into your cells to be used for energy. At Park Place Family Practice & Internal Medicine, we provide the medical oversight necessary to help you regulate these levels and prevent long-term complications.
Understanding Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes:
Often diagnosed in younger patients, this condition occurs when the body produces little to no insulin. Regular monitoring and consistent medical checkups are required to manage this condition effectively.
Type 2 Diabetes:
This is the most common form of diabetes and often develops over time. It occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or fails to produce enough to maintain normal glucose levels.
